Quick question!

Hello everyone!

I'm about to commit to USC - 99% sure - but I have a really quick question that I figured could be answered here. I'm a Public Relations major at Annenberg but I know that I may be interested in going into business. Does anyone know if it is possible to double major between Annenberg and Marshall? Will I be able to take classes at Marshall, even? Is an application process required to either take classes or double major (or even minor) at Marshall, if I want to?

If anyone can answer this for me ASAP, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

heyy I am actually doing the opposite as you. I am in Marshall but intending to minor in communications. my brother went there and he said it’s not a problem to take classes in another school for a minor. A double major would require an application to marshall, I would assume. But if you work hard, I really don’t think it would be an issue or uncommon to do what you are doing. commit already!

SC encourages multidisciplinary study. You may feel it would be better to minor in your second interest. The only schools where I would guess there would be a difficulty would be music or theatre where an audition is necessary. Add to that SCA where a separate application is necessary.

My roommate is actually in Annenberg and wants to get a double major through Marshall. So yes, it is doable. However, note that the Marshall curriculum is very structured and does not have any classes that overlap with other majors, other than accounting. So if you want to pursue this, you may have to take an extra class for a few semesters or do summer classes. There is an application for being a business major or business minor. However, the minor one is pretty simple I believe. For the major, however, you will need to complete 2 math classes (Business Calc and Stat) and 2 econ classes (micro and macro), all of which can actually be passed out of by AP credits, so check up on that.

But yeah, sorry for the lengthy response, but it is doable to double major through Annenberg and Marshall. I actually recently declared a double major of Business Administration and Sociology and will be able to finish in 4 years (though I will be taking 2 courses this summer), but those AP credits sure did help ;)

Good luck with your decision and fight on!
