quick question

I'm wondering if any of these things count at all towards applications..

Age: I'm going to be sixteen when I graduate as a senior. im a junior now and my birthday is 7/24/93... i skipped a grade..... does this help at all??

Race: Egyptian...... Anything at all?

Side question... What exactly is an underrepresented minority?

Isn’t Egyptian a nationality? Anyways, I don’t think you’ll count as a URM unless you have black African roots and indicate that on your application. Otherwise I think you’d fit in with Middle Eastern and that isn’t a URM either. Under Recruited Minorities generally include African-Americans, Hispanic/Latinos, and Native Americans. I don’t think skipping a grade will help, btw, but that is just my opinion. I don’t know what the admissions committee will think of it.

ok thanks…

i think if you were able incorporate how skipping a grade benefited you in your admission essays, it could be a good and distinguishing story to tell

Play up any struggles you’ve had in the essay and downplay any privileges. That seems to be the general consensus I believe.

You don’t need to downplay privileges. Just recognize your privileges as such in your essay and explain how you have used such privileges to help others, etc.

thanks everyone
