Hey,
I'm a junior and I have 2 B's in sophomore year and a possibility of 1-3 B's in my junior year. If I get those 3 B's and lower my GPA to a 3.76/4.13 without senior year, should I withhold from early applying to Columbia and just wait till my mid year report comes out with my senior classes included to apply (I have 5 APs next year and if I do well in those classes, my GPA would increase substantially) ?

I'm going to end up with 10 APs, 8 Honors total and am considered to be taking the most rigorous course load possible.

My B's were in:
Spanish 2, AP Bio (5 on AP), Honors Physics

They might also be in:
AP Chemistry (4 or 5 on AP), Spanish 3

Thanks!

if you got Bs before why do you expect to get all As in harder classes?

i cant see 18 out of 28 classes being higher level considered most rigorous. There is probably honors language and you must have been in cp classes, therefore not MOST rigorous

I tend to do better in AP classes than I do in honors/regular. I like the classes I’m taking next year, which helps. Also, there was a move between my freshman and sophomore year that really screwed me over (the two B’s in sophomore year were the two classes I had prereqs completed in a different, much less competitive school).

We don’t have honors/AP math here until AP Calc BC. So there’s 2. The other not-honors/AP classes I have were art for art credit, a study hall, psychology, gym/health for that credit, and public speaking & Debate ( which was basically to get practice for speech & debate). Most of those were to complete some sort of required credit or to help me out in other stuff. I’m still considered to be taking the most rigorous courseload possible at my school, which is one of the most competitive schools in Ohio-- fluctuates between ranks 1&2.

and no, we do not have honors language either. basically, my school is all for grade deflation and has one of the leading science programs in the nation, and in turn, one of the toughest. My strengths definitely do not lie in the sciences, and so my mistake lies in doubling in science every year until senior year.

why didn;t you take those classes pass fail? and gym doesnt count into gpa.

what do you mean take them pass/fail? I’m in high school…
