Thanks for giving my thread a quick look. I normally post here because the parents give the best responses.

I got a letter today from Scripps, a school i am seriously considering, although is not definately on my college list. However, the letter might have helped me seriously consider applying.

It was about the JES Scholarship, basically half tuition, plus they'd cover all need with no loan commitments. It is awarded to 22 girls each year(252 are in each class)
I know this letters are normally, pardon my french, BS, but i didn't know if i should seriously consider this one. Does it sound legit?

My stats are
34 ACT
3/441 in public school
4.0uw, 4.2 w GPA.

do they even put me in the running

if you have an familarity and can help in any way, i'd appreciate it

You have very good stats. I would apply for JES and find out. Also, you could call the admissions office and ask them about the letter. I’m sure you received it because your stats are within the range to receive the scholarship.

Not a BS at all. Apply for the scholarship - with your stats, your chances of getting one are very high. You stats are well above their 75%. Scripps is an awesome college, and the Claremont consortium is great. Check it out. If you get selected as a candidate for the scholarship, Scripps will fly you out for an on-campus interview and overnighter.

Thanks for the quick replies
I can always count on the parents for that
I guess it can’t hurt to apply…so, Scripps just went from a maybe to a yes

You have good stats. If you have a fairly good idea as to what academic area you are likely to study, and if your further stats and EC’s support that area, you would do well to start developing now a list of colleges that you like, that are strong and want students in that area. This could bring you scholarships from various schools.

Agree with all the above. Scripps is a good college and the Claremont College consortium is terrific. You have excellent stats and therefore a great shot at the scholarship. Go for it!
