My brother is looking into attending MIT - I currently go there, but you are all probably better qualified to answer this question - he has gotten one C in his H English (or history - one of them) - the rest of his grades are good - it also happened during the term our grandmother passed away and it was partly due to that. He's excellent with the sciences and math - will this one C cause problems? I'm inclined to think not, as I know MIT's process looks at the overall person and all the other things they have done - just wanted to get an outside opinion! Thanks!

I doubt one C will hurt him. I'm told that MIT being a school focused on the sciences and math they really analyze the grades in those classes moreso than the humanities. I got a C in Spanish III IB (crazy class) and I still got into MIT....
