This may sound stupid but if I was accepted into Newhouse as a Broadcast Journalism major but want to become a dual major with Whitman am I appealing the major I was accepted into? That's what I put in the e-mail and I think thats what the admissions secretary told me but I have never used the word "appeal" in this way before. I am appealing my single major and applying to my dual major. Right?

Yes, but there is no necessity to do this in advance…one can double up after they get there; but be advised; Whitman then becomes your primary school for advising; all advisory will be based there, not in Newhouse…did they tell you that?

what does that mean exactly? i did read that but did not think twice about it. my passion is journalism and that is what i want to pursue…i really like finance but it is more of a back up/to expand my knowledge base. will being advised in whitman hurt my chances of getting good internships at news stations?

anyone???

When you are a dual with Whitman, you need to satisfy all of the Whitman requirements (not the Newhouse requirements). For example, Whitman has no language requirement but Newhouse does. You only need to do the 36 -40 credits in Newhouse in your major (most Newhouse kids only take that many Newhouse courses and must take many arts and science requirements. It explains all of this in the course catalog. It will not hurt your chances of getting internships in the broadcast field. It just broadens your options.
