Quick questions about CSS profile

I currently work but I made less than $5000 this year and I put will not/not required to file a tax return on the student registration section. I also typed in my gross income for this year in Student's 2007 Income and Benefits section. However, when I was about to submit my CSS profile, I received these two messages:

"You reported that you will not file a 2007 tax return but reported an adjusted gross income (AGI) greater than $0 from a tax return. Please review the responses to Registration question 8 and PROFILE Help Code SI-105 and correct as appropriate.
Return to question"

"Your parents reported that they did not have a federal tax liability on their income. Please review the federal income taxes paid reported (PROFILE Help Code PI-140) and correct if appropriate.
Return to question"

~~Do I ignore these messages and just continue to send my app?
Can anyone explain what these messages mean?
Also, I returned to those questions but I still don't understand lol.
Thanks a bunch!!

My son only made $3000 last year and he filed the 1040EZ. I'm not sure what the "IRS requirements" are, but if the CSS profile has a problem with you not filing I would definately fill it out (it's easier than all these financial aid forms, and you will probably get a small amount of $ back - very small)

As far as your parents federal tax liability, you must have put 0 or no answer under question PI-140D. Your parents would have to have a very low income to have no tax liability. Look at their taxes from last year, and if the income is about the same put down what they paid last year. Once your parents prepare their 2007 taxes you have to go back and update the CSS anyway.

angel - not an answer to your question but - were any taxes deducted where you worked? My daughter earned less than $5000 last year but is filing to get back the $160 that was deducted for taxes. Just a thought.
