quick questions!

I'll be attending UM in the fall, but I just have a few questions!

1) Does anyone know when we receive more information regarding housing (such as where we are placed/roommate etc)

2) If I'm planning on majoring in Political Science and/or English, will I be required to take any chemistry or math courses?

Thanks!

1) you know your room number and roommate august 1st or so. They tell what dorm you're living in and what type of room you will have some time in june i think.
2) You could, but there are ways to get around them. You WILL have to take some natural science courses (but not necessarily chemistry) and a quantitative reasoning course (but not necessarily math). So you will have to take something similar, but if you simply hate math and chemistry, they can both be avoided.

A good way to get natural science credits out of the way without ever taking 'competitive' classes like physics, chemistry, or biology is through minicourses. I took several in the Geological Sciences department this past semester for fun, but if you take several of them then it gives you the equivalent NS of taking one 3- or 4-credit science class.

There are also cupcake courses that are pretty much designated for people who want to get distributions out of the way as painlessly as possible. I know lots of people just do astronomy or introductory geosci to meet the natural science requirement, and there are physics classes like "everyday physics" that are made to be real easy.
