I’ll let other people who’ve lived in more than one dorm tackle housing, though I will say that how big or nice your room is depends greatly on which building.

There are a few athletic facilities which are “free” (paid for out of your tuition/fees). They’ve got the standard assortment of cardio and weight machines, and also free weights.

I love this place, and if this is your first visit I think you’ll come away with the same conclusion I did (“ZOMG CAN’T WAIT!!!”).

Athletic facilities are pretty good. The main one is the Sports Pavilion and Aquatics Center (SPAC) in north campus which has plenty of cardio and weight machines as well as an olympic-size pool and an indoor track overlooking the lake. There’s also Patten and Blomquist. If you choose, you can go to one of the many private gyms in downtown Evanston (Evanston Athletic Club, LA Fitness, etc) but of course for a fee, but I feel on-campus facilities are more than enough.

Housing is pretty good also. The small room I lived in was more than enough space for me since I purposely didn’t bring a TV and didn’t bother with sofas and other paraphernalia like that. It also had no airconditioning but I found I didn’t need it at all (didn’t even need a fan in fact). I heard it’s very easy to get singles since most want roommates.
