Quick Resume Question.

Hi I was employed at a job for about 7 months until the beginning of summer this year. When creating my new resume, as a reference for the work im not sure who to put, my closest supervisor is no longer working there and my main boss in no longer working there either. What should I do? Thank you.

You don't need to put your supervisor's name on your resume.

Virtually the only field that wants to have references listed on one's resume is journalism because it's a field in which people tend to know each other very well.

So you don't put references on a resume? or do you in a different section? At the bottom should you put references availible upon request? Thank you.

No, with the exception of resumes for jobs in journalism, references don't go on your resume. It's also assumed that references are available upon request, so you don't need to include that info either.

If you're applying for a job that asks for a resume and references, you can put the references (along with their phone numbers, addresses and e-mails) on a separate sheet from your resume. Make sure, however, that you put your name at the top. I also suggest saying in what capacity your references know you. E.g. "Jane Doe, supervisor during my job at Super Lube."

ah okay thank you, and sorry one more question, is a cover letter very important or can that just be skipped?
