Hey so heard that the social scene at Duke is divided regionally, ethnically, etc. Is this true? When I visited, the students were just moving in, so I didn't really get a sense of things.

It’s not true. Sure, some of the international kids like to hang together a lot, but not all of them. Some of the Asian kids always hang out together (and talk in their own language), but not all of them. It all depends on who you want to be friends with.
My friends are from all regions in the US and abroad, and they’re all of different ethnicities.

thanks! bump

I’ve only been here three weeks, but I can say it’s nothing like that. Much more inclusive than my high school ever was. Everyone pretty much hangs out together–even athletes and non-athletes, which surprised me since I expected the athletes to be put on a pedestal. Oh and I almost turned down Duke, but I can firmly say that would have been a terrible decision. It’s amazing here.

Okay, that’s good to hear! I was talking to someone about Duke, and they said how the student body was very divided. I found this hard to believe, but I wanted to hear what some Duke students had to say. Thanks again.

HAHA what a joke! Duke is definitely NOT divided! I’m a freshman and it’s crazy how much diversity there is and integration of diversity! GO BLUE DEVILS
