Ok…I’m an admitted lurker on these boards for a year now. I felt I needed to post a thank you for all of y’alls help for the last year with UA. We just got back from BamaBound…I really felt in the know! We ate at Mugshots, Ricks in the Sticks, and Dreamland. I knew to go ahead and sign up for the mailbox to avoid the fall lines. I knew when to sign up for football tickets and lot of other little things that I would not have know without this forum since D forgets to tell us stuff! So…THANKS everyone…appreciate all the advice.

Welcome and Roll Tide!!

What is your D’s major?

English! and no…no aspirations to teach at this point. Just loves literature and analyzing works of literature so this is her starting point.

Welcome and Roll Tide!

Glad to hear that your BB went well! And you ate well!!!

Welcome [officially] to the UA forum!

I’m really glad that y’all enjoyed Bama Bound and that you ate at some of the best restaurants Tuscaloosa has to offer.

Roll Tide!

I, too, want to express our appreciation to CC and the Bama community for all the heads’-ups and insider info. Extremely helpful in so many areas, too many to count!

Roll Tide!

Welcome, TxandBamaMom. I agree–this sub-forum is the BEST! I am so grateful to all the folks here…and where would we have been without mom2collegekids??

Re BB: Waaaah, we just ate at Olive Garden and got takeout at Papa John’s, LOL. (Too exhausted to look for anything else.) But when we take DS down to Bama for move-in, we plan to hit Rama Jama’s and Nick’s in the Sticks for sure.

Okay guys…we missed Ricks in the Sticks. Where is it and what do they serve?

Also, thanks for the heads up on Mugshots…YUM! We love visiting the local places so please keep the suggestions coming :)

There’s a whole thread from back in February that lists a bunch of the good places to eat. Let’s see if this link works…if not, it was around Feb. 12th if you search this board.

Okay guys…we missed Ricks in the Sticks. Where is it and what do they serve?

That must be a typo…

Its nickname is “Nicks in the Sticks”…its real name is Nick’s Original Filet House.

It’s an institution and somewhat divey looking.

It’s called Nicks in the Sticks because it’s out in the sticks. You take 15 St west for a bit and …

The Nicodemus drink is good…too good…be careful, it’s made with Bacardi 151

The filet mignon is very good.

*thanks for the heads up on Mugshots…YUM! *

Aren’t those buns to die for??? :)

m2ck, I don’t know how you can drink that. I drank 151 once on my 18th birthday(back when it was legal and I think I hallucinated. If I drank a nicodemus they would have to carry me out, but I am a cheap date - lol

Nick’s is on my list to check out though.

I am really looking forward to parents weekend especially as its looking as my only vacation this year- ha ha. I want to check out as many places as we can. I’m sure everything will be really busy, but we are staying through Mon am, so hopefully Sun won’t be so much.

Mom - Mugshots was wonderful! The marinated fish…excellent. We live on the Gulf Coast (next to Louisiana) so its the home to outstanding seafood fresh off the boat. Mugshots has the edge on that fish dish though :)

Tx and Mom…Thanks for the tip on Nicks…Think I’ll have to split the drink with someone though…another really cheap date here!
