<p>THis may seem like a silly question but would it be innappropriate to abbreviate the name of the school in my essay (using GW or GWU)? I feel lind of repetitive and overly formal constantly referencing "The George Washington University". I notice they always refer to the school by its full name in the Common App, as opposed to like Boston University which actually refers to itself as BU in its application, so I was just curious.</p>
<p>In the beginning of my essay I wrote “George Washington University” and then abbreviated it to “GW” through the rest of my essay, both because it seemed too formal and because I had to keep under a certain word count.</p>
