If one wanted to be an associate they would need to have an MBA.

Which one of these scenarios is the most common, and which ones are highly unlikely.

1) Get into Ivy League or NYU, or other top school, and major in economics. Get 4 year degree, work as analyst for 2 years, then apply to top B-School (wharton, harvard, columbia, etc). Get recruited for internship after 1st year during summer, then go full time.

2) Get into Ivy League, etc, major in economics. Go straight for MBA. Get recruited for internship after 1st year during summer, then go full time.

3) Get into Wharton program at UPenn, complete bachelors. Get recruited as associate. (no MBA)

For 2) I would assume going straight to MBA at the initial school (Wharton from Penn, Stern from NYU, etc) or would that not make things any easier?

Thanks in advance for any insight.
