quick writing q`s! need your help

hi guys, would you mind clarifying some easy questions i
m puzzling over which:
1. when do we use a verb right after making a comparison with "AS", "THAN" etc
for example - mike
s books don
t get losted as those of tom
s [DO]. is the verb "do" needed? please tell me more about this pattern - when it
s needed and when it
s not
2. I will go and [will] know
is the second "will" needed?
I like to read and [to] write
is the second "to" needed?

1) The "do" is necessary as it is the second verb of the subject. It's an adverb clause, I believe. It's basically needed almost every time you compare two things - "She is taller than I [am]" or "That flower is prettier than that one [is]."

2) I think they are, but I"m not entirely sure about it. I always use those words but then again, I'm supposed to be waaay too wordy in my writing.
