Quickest way to transfer?

I'm currently a freshman at FSU and will complete my AA by Spring 2015. Ideally, I would like to apply for the Digital Arts and Sciences major, but that requires many critical tracking courses that are prerequisites of one another, and by Spring I would have only completed 2 of the 7 required.

Is there a quicker way to transfer? Perhaps applying for another major and then switching after? I really do not like where I'm at now and would like to transfer as soon as possible.

If I applied for my major I feel like it would take ever longer considering all of the application deadlines are 6-9 months ahead of the start of the semester, and on top of that it's required that you complete the classes by the time of application. It seems difficult since most of the classes are prerequisites of one another (Calc I, Calc II, Calc III, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

The only way to transfer is to meet the requirements for your major and be ready to go at the junior level. Transfer students are expected to graduate in 4 semesters. You should stay where you are and finish the prerequisite classes necessary.

Thanks for the reply! 4 semesters is expected but I think I read somewhere that it’s not required. I’ve heard of people switching into majors that don’t require nearly as many prerequisites (such as political science) and getting in that way, then switching to their desired major

I guess it is not possible how you heard it… Might have been different some years ago…

“For your convenience, we have grouped our majors into similar categories so you can research related majors. However, please be aware that junior transfer students cannot change their major once at UF so be sure that the major for which you apply is the major you wish to pursue to graduation.”

Okay well that’s good to know. Thanks!
