Quickie...

Are the CB's SAT ranges accurate or outdated?
For NYU it says 600-700 for the three satI subsections, but a representative of the school said the middle 50% was 650-750...?

I think most of the numbers on CB are from the HS class of 2006 so yeah, they're probably inaccurate. On average, the acceptance rates for top schools were lower last year than they were in 2006 and average standardized test scores became higher since more qualified applicants are applying for the same number of spots.

^ohh, so eerily similar

The important numbers to look at are those for enrolled students, as reported in the common data set. The historical 25th-75th percentile scores for NYU, as per the CDS, for CR and Math are listed below (writing was only introduced last year):
CR M
2006-07 600-700 610-710
2005-06 620-710 620-710
2004-05 610-700 610-710
2003-04 600-700 610-710
2002-03 600-700 610-710

Often schools will report data for accepted students before they release their official common data set. On their website, NYU reports mid 50% SAT scores of 1300-1430 for the class of 2011. It is unclear if this is for accepted students or enrolled students.

As you can see, the numbers don't change much from year to year. If in fact NYU's new numbers on the website are for enrolled students, this would be a significant change and is worthy of an explanation from the school. My guess is that the website is reporting accepted student data, but check with the school to be sure.
