How is the chemistry department at Johns Hopkins? Does the fact that it is a BA not a BS change nething in terms of jobs? Thanks

The chemistry program is VERY good. It's also one of the smaller science departments (~20 chem majors a year), so you get a lot of interaction with the faculty. There's really not much difference between a B.A. and a B.S.; some colleges offer both. Biology at JHU is offered as a B.A. and a B.S., for example. B.S. just means you took more science courses.

ive also heard that the chem program is really good, but can i ask where this info comes from? is it rankings or just undergrad assesment or what?

A combination of both. If you care about rankings, check the US News and World Report rankings or the National Research Council rankings. For example, JHU's biochem program was ranked 10th.
