I'm an entering freshman and just found out that my school has a Quidditch team. After laughing a bit, I thought about actually joining it.

Is anyone here a member of his/her school's team?

I'm an entering freshman and just found out that my school has a Quidditch team. After laughing a bit, I thought about actually joining it.

Is anyone here a member of his/her school's team?

Dang I wish my school had one!! I totally would join! Perhaps I should start one lol…

They tried to start one at my school, but thank god everyone bashed it so the few who wanted it decided not to.

My school has a club that plays Quidditch. I was about to elaborate what sort of reputation these kids have, but you can probably guess…

They have one at my fiance’s school and it’s very active. It looks like tons of fun, he was the keeper for a while before he got too busy to keep up with it. I am not athletic enough for it but I’d love to do something like that if I could.

At fiance’s school, the quidditch team is such a cult sort of thing that I don’t think the kids reputations are adversely affected. The only people who know they’re there are the people who think it’s cool. He was there three years before we ever found it. And they are all having so much fun, it’s hard to look at them and think anything but, “gee, I think I’m missing out on something here.” Honestly I think you’re making a mistake if you come into college worrying about that kind of thing, the vast majority of times it is a non-issue anyway, and you’ve only got so much youth left for doing silly things with wreckless abandon and having a blast doing it.

The things i do with youth and reckless abandon involves my good friend Mark from Kentucky and his boy Jack from Tennessee and all my brothers.

George Mason has one.
But too bad I’m planning on going to another school…

What the heck is Quidditch?

is it in college or high school?

It’s college.

darkdream, it’s a sport that is derived from the sporting event “quidditch” from the Harry Potter series.

My college has a sword club. People pretend they’re knights and jedis. Even I feel embarrassed watching them play out their medieval fantasies. This is not like fencing, more like saw that pose in a comic book.

My college has a team. They played behind what used to be my dorm… so I’d leave the entire afternoon to avoid the embarrassment of having to see them.

ISUClub: Dude. Hitting people with swords. Tell me exactly what is uncool about that?

How do you replicate the snitch?

You know that small gold ball with wings?

AtomicCafe: If you find Quidditch embarrassing, what are some of your amazingly cool hobbies?

My school does indeed have a quidditch club. I do not plan on joining, but the last 2 years of Relay for Life my team played Quidditch during it. Nothing uncool about it.

LegendaryC: I’ve read that on some teams, the snitch is a really fast person dressed in bright yellow running onto the field at random times, and the Seekers have to tackle him/her. There’s a bunch of other ways to get creative with the Snitch too.

Also, if my school doesn’t have a Quidditch team when I get there, I’m totally going to start one. It honestly looks like so much fun.

I THINK there is actually someone that acts as the snitch and runs around.

I wonder where everyone goes. I guess these activities are more popular than I thought.

We have a Quidditch team, but it’s new and kind of lame. I know it’s below our sword club in terms of coolness.

Wow people on here are really passing judgement on what is cool? I really don’t think one activity is inherently cooler. If people have fun doing it, who cares. E have a humans vs zombies game where kids shoot nerf guns at and throw socks at one another. There’s also larpers. They have fun doing it, more power to em.

Quidditch? Seriously? LMAO. Kids these days.

This should be like the sequel of the South Park about world of Warcraft.
