Which schools have the best, most unique professors? What do these teachers do to make classes interesting?

every school has great professors and awful ones. you'll be more likely to find interesting professors at liberal arts colleges though (because a significant number of professors at big research universities aren't necessarily there because they are good teachers).

Well, quirky is most commonly associated with UChicago and Reed.
Those would be good starting places.

many LAC have excellent professors, large university usually wont pay much attention to ug

^^ looks fantastic. (re: the goldberg lectures)

I don't know if the UChicago professors are as quirky as the students are-- I would characterize them as solid and serious more than wacky and playful, though one can surely find wacky and playful professors here as well as anywhere.

None of my professors have dressed up their subjects by being theatrical; they haven't needed to. For them, the topic at hand is inherently interesting and involving, and they share their passion for the topic with students by asking pointed questions, playing devil's advocate, etc. No sequins, just discussion on mind-bending topics.
