NewHope, Re your list, good one. I know 2 people (1 boy/1 girl) considered quite quirky in the ‘real world’, one of whom went to Cal Poly SLO, and the other to Missouri-Rolla (now known as MS&T - Missouri University of Science and Technology). The girl (my D) was relieved to find ‘her kind’.

I’m definitely “quirky” or strange or weird or odd. When I was looking at schools, I looked at Hampshire, Wesleyan, Swarthmore, Sarah Lawrence in addition to larger universities. I ultimately did not apply to any of these schools for financial reasons and the understanding that at a larger school, you will be able to find your own crowd no matter what. There’s always someone at a large school who you can connect with. I go to Binghamton University, a medium sized research university that is considered one of the better public schools in New York. Not what many would call quirky by any means. But I’ve definitely found people.
