Who else took an artistic plunge?

artistic or creative?....what would you consider artistic?

How about an essay in the form of a comic strip?

well....i didnt write my essay in an artistic fashion...but i did write a resume of my EC's in the form of a recipe.

i did an essay like a proof, it was awesome...i guess

"well....i didnt write my essay in an artistic fashion...but i did write a resume of my EC's in the form of a recipe."

okay that is artistic and brave. wow.

I wrote my essay about how I wanted and still want to be a wizard =p

I did a creative too. Good luck fellow artists!

I did a random (wiritten) colage of my interests, ideas, and characteristics. I talked about kabbalah and abortion. i think it turned out very good.

LOL, elevenblanks - kabbalah... HAHAHAHA ... Oh yeah, I handwrote my resume on hot pink paper that was scented in passion de ouevre. I also shaped it in a heartshape and when you opened it, Mozart poured out of the resume.

You are insane.

I told them that with a year off, I would want to play golf. Even though I suck at it.

In an artistic way, of course.

hahaha, i always thought playing golf had a sweet "science" to it...but i can see how u can give it an artsy feel :p

I included a poem in my main essay. I think it works well enough, but who knows. (I guess it didn't really get "validated," did it? Lol.)

I also inserted scans of paintings into the "summer" one and the two 250-word ones. So....we'll see what happens. =)

Comic essays and cartoon essays have been used in the past.
Some have yielded great results with even Ivy admissions. This year my S sent one to a few elite schools including Princeton hoping this would set him apart. He is already a professional illustrator who has been accepted to the best arts schools but has deferred for a year and has decided to study Liberal Arts and major in Art History.

i sent poems, too. I wrote about translating my father's poetry in a different language, so i sent them the original poems and then my translations.

"well....i didnt write my essay in an artistic fashion...but i did write a resume of my EC's in the form of a recipe."

have you guys read this admission essay in the form of a cranberry bread recipe? i ran into it during a personal writing seminar (i think it was published in one of those 50 greatest essays books or w/e). that's what the above comment immediately reminded me of.

i guess i can cross my fingers then! gaaaahhh! I wrote 3 recipes, one for each primary club im in....i made...meatballs, pizzelles (italian cookies), and homemade pasta.

haha, wow, you guys are crazy. My long essay was pretty normal (common app), but I did write one of the shorter ones on my love for chinese Kung fu TV shows.

this doesn't really pertain to the essay, but I reaad somewhere that an applicant tried to get more attention by attaching a helium balloon to her app. quirky, but guess where that got her with the admin officers? :-P
