Quite plainly, is Berkeley worth this......

So, I want to attend UC Berkeley (and apparently so did 45,000 other applicants :-p) But, alas my life is cursed and I did not get accepted or rejected...but offered the "Bobcats to Bears" program, where I must attend the god forsaken campus of UC Merced until I reach 60 credits, at which point I am guaranteed admission to UC Berkeley. Most likely with my AP credits and IB Diploma+CC classes I will have those 60 credits in > a year...

With that said, is Berkeley worth the trouble and hassle or is my next choice (UC Davis) a more logical option, thoughts?

If you applied to UCSB I'd go there if i were you.

I don't know why UC Merced gets a bad rap...it is kinda too early to judge it on much at all. It has small classes, close student-to-professor relations, and is a very nice campus from what I hear.

Dude... just bare Merced. Get atleast 30 on your IB diploma and make sure you take all the AP tests you listed. If possible, go to a CCC this summer. You'll start with 30 units with your ib diploma. If you want anymore advice, calculate your AP units and post em. If you're with in 45 units you will only need one semester at Merced

BTW you mean < a year right?

Yeah, I think it’s worth it in your position. If you do what anon5524485 says, you’ll be able to transfer pretty fast. And honestly, Merced–however young–isn’t all THAT bad. It’s growing. =)

Woops, indeed I do, less than a year. O_O IB Diploma gives me 20 credits, in addition I calculate to have 5 AP scores in the 4-5 range. And I will be enrolling in about 5 CC classes this summer (oh boy the fun :-p)

UC Merced probably would feel like a private school since there are so few students.

And who knows, maybe you'll enjoy Merced and stay there!

Congrats you just pwned the system
