Quite the Opposite

It's funny that I am aspiring to go to places like Cornell, Wash. U (STL), MIT, U of I, etc. But my dad is like yelling and arguing w/ me to go to University of Missouri - Rolla, which is an okay school, but there are better things. HE IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. And the funny thing is I haven't even started applying/finishing the ACTs. He doesn't know what aid/scholarships I will get.

Well, since your family will be paying for your college education, I can see why your dad would be urging you to apply to more state schools. You should probably have a serious conversation with him about money for college sometime, probably when you've developed a final list of schools to apply to.

Of course, while some of the schools you listed promise to meet 100% of your need, it's on the school's terms. And in the same way that your dad doesn't know how much in aid and scholarships you'll get, you don't know either.

I'm sorry that you and your dad don't quite see head to head, but you should listen to his concerns and see if you guys can compromise.

Ya, sounds good...BUT my parents aren't paying for my college! He is just concerned about how many loans I'll be stuck with.

But yeah, I just need to wait and see what aid packages are offered.
