Quitting an EC senior year

Hi,
theres this one leadership EC (“Service Representatives”), where we work to promote service at my school; ive been doing since sophomore year, and the teacher who heads service reps is encouraging some of us to resign bc she knows seniors r busy and wont be fully committed, and im considering it bc i know will be super busy w other leadership things and ill prob only commit 1-2 hours per week in service reps. however im not sure if i should resign bc ive been doing it for so long and hold a leadership position (im kind of the social media manager). but this EC honestly doesnt bring me “joy” or anything, i just do it.

These are my ECs as of now
ECs

advice on if i should quit it? thanks.

If it does not bring you joy then why are you doing it? and I don’t think I would call “social media manager” a leadership position. You have lots of other interests and some nice ECs with yearbook and sports. I would say go ahead and drop

You have so many activities that there is absolutely no benefit to you to continue with one you don’t enjoy.

You have been or will be a captain of multiple JV sports team your senior year? Not being critical that just seems unusual not to have advanced to varsity.

In my opinion you shouldn’t be just “participating” in ECs. You should focus on a few things that are meaningful to you!!

Likely to make you happier and be more impressive to an AO.

haha yea it may seem wierd, but i want the chance to actually play (and not be on the bench) and also jv is a lot more chill and im not a competitive person

You look very busy. There is no need to continue that EC. You have plenty of EC’s. Maybe there are others to drop!

And that is totally fine! Very few high school players wind up becoming recruited athletes. You sound as if you got a lot out of high school sports, by playing two sports all through high school. Unless you are at the level of being a recruited athlete, it honestly doesn’t matter whether you played JV or Varsity. And you showed leadership by becoming captain of two JV teams.

You also are editor of the yearbook, plus plenty of other activities, volunteering, working. It’s a really nice mix of ECs, with some leadership roles, too. No problem to drop any of these that you no longer want to do.
