Quotas in Stanford

Hey
i'm an indian living in delhi. A guy from my school got accepted into Stanford( 1460/ 2210) I was wondering whether Stanford has quotas from particuar schools. I mean whether they take more than one sudent from the same school. Keep in mind that i'm an international student so if any one has any answere

Please Reply

Stanford only cares how much $$$ you have.... (ask hello)

I doubt there are any quotas.
btw i saw ur stats and if you are not applying for aid then IMO you're in!!

You friend didnt apply for aid, right??

stanford doesn't care that much about $, i applied and said i'd pay for everything, still got rejected!!! but my stats were low, 1400 (800M) no SAT IIs and only a 4.1. but over 600hrs of ECs each year. and rec. from university prof. from my city

The only quota they have is that they can accept only 40 intls a year with financial aid.

NO SAT II's is a big drawback.

What I mean is that, if you dont apply for fin aid and have decent stats Stanford is MUCH EASIER to get into than HYPM

no! no SAT IIs is a draw back, but chan (other poster) had great SAT IIs and Is and GPA and rank and recs. and award and was willing to pay $ also didn't get in!

I agree with hello, if you had a 1450 or above ready to pay full cost and had a high SAT scores your chancs would have been lot beter. A friend of mine in Delhi, applied to carnegie mellon with 1360 SAT, 70 % in 11 no aid and got accepted.

well cuz that carnegie mellon...

and Carnegie Mellon offers no aid to intls.

Thanks guys for the replies.
No my friend didnt apply for aid. He had a 1460 and a 2210. his ecs wernt too great. im just a little apprehensive that since hes got in they would inore the application. Probably i'm paranoid but ........ u never know
Anyway thanks 4 the replies . what was the fuss about the sat 2. and no im not applying for fin aid.

any more views on the subject??

anyone...............????

hmm okay hendrixfan...everyone told me stanford ws seriously stingy wit aid n i wud get rejected simply becuz i was askin 4 soo much..but i gave it a shot anyway, and i got in (with aid) !! nothin to spectacular about me btw...regular ec's, 1430 SAT I, no SAT IIs, seriously inclined towrds the arts, lots of social work, brilliant recs i think (my techers really like me :p) and thats all...

hey salsa have u heard about Stanford taking more than one person from the same school. Congratulations about getting in.
Does having a brother from Stanford help?

How does the $$$ factor help getting into stanford? Don't you just to have to put the amount equal or more than what's needed to cover all tuition+accomodation expenses on the application form - does this mean that you have $$$$?

Only if you're not applying for aid. Not if you're applying for it.......

Does it make a difference/influence a decision for a student who didn't apply for fin aid putting a much larger figure in that box as opposed to another student who puts equal or a slightly higher amount than the required?

nope it doesnt.I specifically asked stanford that question

about qoutas: stanford took in two of us from my school...and we both got as much aid as we asked for (which was, btw alot..) dunno abt havin a brother there..i guess if hes outstanding and has made an excellent impression on the faculty it mite help
