haha he has no excuse.

dont leave zeke72791! we need you to continue freaking out along with the rest of us

haha i wont. i just have to watch what phrases i use, i guess. because obviously "crapload" has a different meaning to others than it does to me. maybe i should have said "buttload" or "s**t-ton."

I understood, for the record. :P

thank you. now i don't feel like such an idiot.

he said that "comparatively to that of pretty much anybody who is Ivy League material, [my] logical and reasoning skills are a crapload" and that no one should explain why that's the case because it's a futile effort.

that seriously hurt!

someone was angry!! and misunderstood to top it all off.

Yeah... rough life. Although, I did that to some girl on College Carrot, but she was legitimately rude and deserved to be firmly educated. I digress.

Anyway, on the main topic---I've had actual admissions people talk to my counselors and tell them that what sucks is that 1. I'm Asian. 2. I come from NY. 3. I'm female. And all of the above were NOT what they were looking for.

^ really? The admissions rep who came to our school said we're at a slight advantage for being in NY. But yeah... the Asian factor sucks... I'm there with you T.T

Oh, just take what CO2 says with a grain of salt. He has nothing better to do then ***** at us crazy high school kids trying to go to college.

Your gender doesn't matter one way or another. Coming from NY is no worse than being from any other coastal state, and being Asian is no worse than being white. Stop trying to play the victim card -- you act as if they say "oh she's an asian from NY, discard pile."

i am just surprised that many kids from one class went to an ivy league school.

College Placement HTH

Haha, I only just realized after reading the above posts that C2002 mistook the phrase 'crapload' to mean 'load of crap'. No wonder.. I was like, why is he so PO'd? haha.

Future reference: crapload = a large quantity

crapload - Wiktionary -- large amount "especially of something worthless"

This thread is the paragon of why it's stupid/useless to argue on the internet.

But please do carry on, this is highly amusing to me, and I need entertainment to distract while I await email(s) from Columbia...

Haha, agreed. Anyway, whatever, c2002 can look up his definitions using online dictionaries,

but my lingo comes from DA STREETZ YO!

LoL I concur, thebeef, I've never heard anyone use crapload as Wiktionary apparently defines it, I have also always heard it used to mean "an overwhelmingly large quantity".

But I am now about to be sucked into an internet argument, so farewell...until we meet again in the next thread =)

This has devolved into a useless thread.

1) I figured that by 'crapload' zeke meant 'a lot of stuff' (no, I wasn't offended)
2) Denzera wasn't talking about you, Zeke, but C02 when he said it's unnecessary to call people names.

haha. "da streetz"

and im glad you weren't offended cerberus, because really it was a compliment if anything... and im sorry that you took it the wrong way c02, i should use less vague phrases next time. and lets kill this thread now.

11 acceptances from Harvard-Westlake School to Columbia University? (from the link C02 put up) That is outrageous. I've never even heard of that high school. Pfft.

My friend was actually one of the students accepted from Harvard-Westlake! That's bizarre. I had no idea there were ten others!

justbelieve - Harvard-Westlake is the big-time private school of Los Angeles. Or at least one of them. They're a bunch of geniuses.

back to the quota issue.... maybe?

I'm applying to SEAS and I'm sort of stressed that I have to face extra competition, since I'm classified as an international student... there's no doubt that competition for international students is tougher than the regular pool of U.S. citizens...

Not playing "I'm the victim" thing, but just thought that I would throw it out there and get the thread back to the original topic :)

Ahaha, well the reasons I listed were legitimate words from the admissions guy's mouth (though not one from Columbia) so I'm inclined to believe him...
