Hmmm… just wondering… maybe if we asked reeeeaaaalllllly nicely, maybe the mods would bring back the meta thread for a brief one day return appearance, just so we can reread it and get a great laugh… and then they can take it away again. It could be locked, so no one can post to it. Just available for one-day viewing…

Not sure if it’s archived or not, so I don’t kow if this is even possible, but I don’t remember the thread being insulting to anyone or anything like that. It was silly, yes, but fun, clever and witty, and made one laugh out loud on many occasions. It was occasionally close to being a bit off-color at times, if I recall, but compared to some of those political threads, it was in much, much better taste, IMO. So hmmmm… maybe we can offer to buy stuff from the cc store if they’ll let us have a quick peek at the “meta” thread…

jym, you know you might be on to something…

(psssssst don’t tell anyone, but my theory is that the mods really don’t delete threads. They are actually archived, and there’s a clandestine mod forum where all deleted threads are sequestered, available for recall. A bit like alien abduction, and access is on a need to know basis ;))

My biggest disappointment is not ever knowing the actual offense that caused it’s demise . A mystery to this day. Must have been one helluva one liner. :D

It did on occasion stretch the envelope a bit, but no more than trying to stuff an elephant in a ziplop sandwich bag.

I loved that thread, and I especially loved tht my little diversion was turned into a work of art by other people here.

That being said, there was one underlying strand that got a little risque (it involved initials, nuff said) and I had a feeling that those jokes were going to get it bumped one day.

I started it in the Parents side, not Cafe, because at some level I thought of it as a critique of the excesses of the college application nuttiness (I actually imagined it being kinda serious–what did I know?)

I think the mods pass the deleted threads among each other for grins and giggles, and some are deleted for absolutely no reason just so they can listen to all of us try to parse their logic in doing so. ;)

Over30, you may have a browser similar to mine. I couldn’t access some of these links in Firefox, my standard browser. Internet Explorer did just fine…I didn’t try Netscape or Safari.

Oh…Memory Lane looking at some of those old posts. The Moundbuilders, the Oceanics, the Pilers, and the Platers all in one thread.

Anyway, if anyone stumbles across a current paragraph that deserves perpetual highlighting, please drop it here.

So.. garland… everyone is promising to make their beds for a week and walk the dog and do their homework and go to bed on time and take the trash out… all for a quick review of that classic thread with great plays on words and amusing uses of acronyms. Awww, c’mon. It makes the political threads look tame… Its certainly no more risque than the “thong” thread in the political forum (which is also pretty entertaining-- its called “would you don a pair of these”..). With all the stress of college apps and the tension of the big political divide… whats wrong with some funny, albeit occasionally off-balance wordplay? Granted, it probably doesn’t provide the SAT vocab. word of the day, but it did starpen the quick wit and banter skills…
