So I had thought of a plan for my common app essay, but was wondering if it has any credibility in regards to relevance and race.

So my story is that I am a 100% white male whose parents had gotten a divorce while I was in middle school. Completely out of the ordinary, I know. My mom had started seeing someone whom we have now moved in with across state boarders. They are not married because that would kill all chances for me to get financial aid for college, especially since I am paying for the entirety of it regardless.

Anyway, the guy we moved in with is Taiwanese. His entire family has practically adopted me as there own. I live in a completely Asian environment, except I cannot speak the language. My idea then was to write an essay about how I have overcome the Asian stereotypes in the opposite way, presenting my story as a white kid whom showed that they can deal with the academically inclined aura of an Asian household.

Would this topic be completely irrelevant to anything, and more importantly would it hurt my chances to get accepted. I understand about the whole AA thing, and I was curious regarding if this essay would just tell the admission offices that I am just another Asian kid without the physical features.

Thank you for any reply
