Race on Application

If you're really worried about it, just don't answer the question. I wouldn't freak out about this; to put it bluntly, asians and caucasians have just about an equal chance of getting into any college. If you don't put anything, you'll be PERFECTLY FINE.

Don't stress, man.

Im applying to the elite schools in the nation and i am half Hispanic (Latin American) and half Asian (India)....I have very good scores and I checked Latin American only on the Stanford app and was deferred...

do you think they saw my dad was born in India and considered me Asian? should i put multiracial and specify on my other apps if i am writiing about my unique heritage mixing when they normally dont?

I'm not sure about your case, but parikhs mark asian and write indian best way to go..i did that..

sither, only writing hispanic is the best way to go

how much of a certain race do you need to be in ure geneological history to be considered a URM? A half, a quarter?

I am not sure what schools you are applying to, but I would be careful about trying to mislead in your application. It will be oddly suspicious if no one else mentions that you're a member of an minority group, but you indicate it in your app. Some highly selective institutions look for continuity in your entire app.

why would any one else mention it? counselors and teachers dont talk about your ethnicity when writing recomendations...

sither: i have a friend who is half latin-american (mom) and indian (dad). she checks the other box.
