It just seems odd that you some how have access to this super confidential information. Even if you did know someone on the committee it would be highly unethical for them to show this to you. I would think it would be grounds for losing their job.

Fine, believe it or not, I heard it directly from the Harvard Adcom.
You don't have to believe me, but I just don't like the way you are all accusing me of some huge liar.

If you want to blame, blame it on the adcom guy that told me all this. I dunno if he was telling me the truth or not, but all I'm doing right now is passing down the info I got from him to give you a more thorough picture of how what affects your admission to Harvard.

The system you named seems absurdly complicated. Also, I don’t see why an Admissions officer would tell you, a seemingly random person, how the school chooses its students, or why there would be a “list” of how this happens.

dhl3,

cite what?

"the adcom guy" that told you all this--what was his name?

Probably wouldn't be very ethical of him to give away names like that would it? It's not impossible to know admissions reps and adcom members. I know a family friend who was on Yale's adcom for a while.

He hasn't said anything to rep him, and if he's gone this far in revealing a secret institutional policy, he might as well try to do the rest. If he can stand behind it at all... the claim is withering a little bit.
