I am half white/half Korean. I was wondering if it made any difference to the law schools I apply to, if it would be easier/harder or if it would be better to apply as only white or only Korean. Thanks for any insight.

It won’t matter. In my judgment, you should apply as only white, but I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference.

Apply as half white and hallf Asian. That’s what you are. It won’t matter…at all.

That was a stupid response from me. I don’t know what I was thinking. The correct answer is to decline to state your race, e.g. refuse to answer the question. You don’t want yourself showing up when the admissions department reports their diversity numbers to the Dean. So just check the “decline to answer” box, even if your last name makes it obvious.

Sorry, Mike, but I disagree. I wouldn’t advise declining to answer. Check both boxes.

I mean, my advice is that you don’t want to show up on the diversity report at all. You want to be a 0/0 rather than a 0/1. Will this make a difference? Probably not. But it’s what I do.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all of the honest advice.
