Plainsman - Try not to panic -- hope you don't mind if I PM you-

Lehigh hosted the Dalai Lama this summer....

Your daughter may want to go to Lehigh to spite you. Sometimes less is more.

If I were her I would be applying to Bob Jones and BYU!!!

Plainsman - if your daughter is absolutely interested in Lehigh (or any school) and you want more info, one of the best places to research is the student paper. Here is an article from the school website, but have you tried the Brown & White? Am sure there is more info there.

Lehigh University - UR News Story: 2908

I also second oldfort's comment -- do you think your pushing against a school might actually be making it more intriguing to your daughter? Just a thought.
On searches with S1, I tried to never put in my two cents until hearing out his opinion.

Are there still "economic conservatives"? (I jest, I jest)

When my baby was little, I put her in a car seat, and put little plastic things on all the sharp corners on the tables, and kept the pesticides under lock and key.

Now she wants to go to school 5,000 miles from her dear old dad. Can I stop her? Probably. Should I stop her? That's where it gets tricky.

^^ My son is a true economic conservative. He finds that this is certainly not the prevailing view on college campuses, even on his which is known as pretty pre-professional.

Ah well ... it makes it all the more interesting to hear differing viewpoints, so all is good.

I think Plainsman wants a very specific agenda for his daughter, and will be disappointed to find that you can't create a world for a young adult that is fully to one's own liking.

My take is that Plainsman is just venting on this forum because he knows he can't speak so frankly to his daughter.

...When has Lehigh had Barack Obama on campus?
[/quote]

Lehigh Students have had an opportunity to hear Obama speak: Upcoming Pa. primary brings Obama to Valley, just like Muhlenberg students have now had an opportunity to hear McCain.

Hopefully, wherever you daughter ends up, she will adopt a glass is 1/4 full approach to life rather than 3/4 empty.

And Plainsman-- just FYI--
The McCain campaign chose the Stabler Center as a venue like any other. They were not invited by the university. All kinds of events are held there.
