Does race depend on the type of college you go to? like…does a community college have more blacks and a Ivy school has more asians? What types of colleges are in the middle? like 60% white 10% hispanic 10% asian 10% black 10% unknown kinda thing.
Oh boy.
Google it. Colleges publish this information.
OP, rather than posting a ton of questions on this forum, can I suggest you do make an effort to try doing a little online searching as well? This allows other users to get their questions answered too, instead of being bumped down to the next page. Not trying to be harsh, but there is a thing called Google:-)
I stongly suggest you look at the Common Data Set for any schools you are interested in. The CDS is a treasure trove of info: racial make up of student body, financial aid details, GPA and test score averages, criteria used in selection, acceptance rates, and so on. You can also use the extremely helpful website college data. They basically compile all the info about various schools and then you can search every college on that site. They use the CDs for, their info, but alos have links to colleges and profile stories of students and their college searches. I have found that site invaluable. Also, just look around on the forums on this site, as there are many subtopics which might address your questions. There are also many articles here on CC, as well as the Supermatch tool, which will help you find colleges.
@Lindagaf research? Nah…I need answers from people who had experience in the real thing. Before I came to the us I read tons of stuff about high schools in the us but when I came here 90% of the things are different. I need perspectives from the “very normal and random” people. My high school does not say anything about racial makeup, google said most schools have mostly whites, but my school turned out to be 50% hispanic. It’s like why some students ask help from their own teacher, not the internet. Thank you.
What? I don’t understand your comment. You don’t beleive the CDS of a college whihc gives you its statistical racial profile, but you do believe people who have experienced the “real thing”? If your school is 50% hispanic, that’s real. What exactly are you trying to find out?
FWIW, I am white and went to community college. And most colleges in the US are always looking for minority students to add to their classes. Many very selective colleges actively seek out minority students. I don’t understand what you are trying to find out.
You want stats but you want them from random people? Where do you think these random people get their stats from?
It’s Google.
The answer is in statistics; from individuals you’ll get only anecdotes.
You can literally go look at any college’s Common Set Data or go to the very user friendly “Big Future” website by Collegeboard and see the specific percent of each race at each college. What more do you want? In fact, why is it so important for you to know the racial makeup of a college?
Um, yeah… there’s a difference between saying that most HSs in the US are majority white and saying that YOUR specific HS will be majority white. Do you understand stats? What everyone on this thread is telling you is that you can find - easily - the racial makeup of any college you wish, while the same can’t be said for HSs.
If you don’t like a question but it isn’t a violation of the Terms of Service, learn to ignore it and move on. It takes 5 seconds to do this, so even 7 or 8 threads like this takes less than a minute. Having said that, the OP would be well advised to consolidate their questions into 1 or 2 threads.
Hahaha This post and the replies made my day. It’s been a while since I have laughed this hard
