Racism in La Jolla

<p>This has nothing to do w/ the Compton Cookout. I am from Brazil and today decided to see UCSD. I wanted to visit my rich aunt who lives in La Jolla and walked from the campus down the street. There were a lot of nice houses and as I pass by one house there is this Caucasian woman who yelled at me this was private property (it wasn't private!! it was a busy street) and she assumed I was this ghetto Mexican guy with my dark skin and she told me to scam and get outta there. I was wondering is La Jolla really like this? I know it is a nice neighborhood but since UCSD is majority Asians will a lot of people stare at me? If I go to the market will a lot of people look at me?? I already feel very selfconscious with my dark skin and don't tell me there is racism everywhere because I understand that.</p>

<p>I started at UCSD last year. This school is so racist that I have been called the n-word multiple times, and I’m not even black! I can imagine the racists at UCSD will call you a limey on a daily basis, so I suggest not going to UCSD. You might do well in clown college, so look into that. I suggest taking Seltzer 4A.</p>

<p>It isn’t racism- it’s just lots of crotchety old rich people who like to live in their super expensive houses and yell at anyone who comes by them, regardless of skin color. What they really hate are students on bikes and will be glad to run you over or sideswipe you any time of the day. </p>

<p>So don’t worry- it’s just part of the wonders of living in a town where the most important political issue for the last 15 years had been whether or not seals should be allowed on a beach. Seriously.</p>

<p>The running over and side swiping sounds amusing to me as it sounds great to me to seriously F up the paint and trim of a high end European car with my beater bike.</p>

<p>PLUS if the side swiping o running over is going to happen; their (expensive) insurance will gladly pay you in full MSRP price (even of upgrades) to replace your bike with a new one [trust me, my dad’s cyclery does estimates for bikes that are involved in accidents for insurance claims and the victim usually gets their way]; you can actually make a profit if you bought your bike used! They’ll definitely get a serious rate hike that’ll get their designer undies in a tangle.</p>
