racism

At my school, everyone thinks they’re super tolerant yet they throw racial slurs everywhere, have racist views and make derogatory comments on the daily and I just ._. If I didn’t have a close circle of friends of color that haven’t been brainwashed by their white friends I’d probably gouge my eyes out

^ White people don’t experience racism like wat omg. They can be victims of ethnocentrism (eg. cosmological) but not racism. Cracker isn’t a slur oh my god i cant breathe omggg

@Jellybae‌
Fancy seeing you again. There is a slur for every race and what other word for whites than cracker? Also, I agree that some people act like they’re the most tolerant people in the world yet they regularly make ignorant comments. But why can’t racism apply to whites when they in some cases are a minority and racism applies to all races?

lol realtwinkie i remember this white girl in my class being 300% serious when she said that she knows what it feels like to be called the n word because this one time in the 2nd grade some black girl called her a cracker. “But why can’t racism apply to whites when they in some cases are a minority and racism applies to all races” << are you sure you took apush??? at least pls google something because omg.

@Jellybae Historically on a large scale no not really, it doesn’t exist much, but theoretically and in some rare cases it can, I guess

I took APUSH and got a 5. Also any racial slur is equivalent to the n word in that it is derogatory towards an entire race and I can argue cracker is derogatory in some cases. When being jumped and the only name they call a white person is cracker, they’re using it a derogatory and racial manner.

@Cosmological‌ nnnnnnnnnnnn emoji eyes

axfsadshdsj ok realtwinkie ok emoji moon side eye

I never said that white males cannot experience racism. However, at a school like mine in a characteristically upper-middle class white community, it is not a widespread issue here at all, as far as I have experienced. In my own eyes, I do not see very much racism at my school, directed at myself or anyone else, despite the diversity. However, being said, there are still a large amount of minorities at my school. I cannot say with conviction that racism is not a problem here because I am not in a racial group that would traditionally be picked on in my community. Perhaps if I were a minority I would have a more accurate picture to paint.

@Ctesiphon‌
I understand what you’re saying, I must’ve misunderstood your tone or something.
@Jellybae‌
Ask my teacher if I was competent in APUSH. I took it as a freshman and got a 100 on my final. Also, according to google, racism can apply to any race. It’s real ignorant to doubt I took APUSH due to a differing opinion.

Wow, those aren’t your friends. Scrap 'em.

@Jellybae Though I myself have never seen it happen to the scale that it affects the lives of minorities (Like widespread pay gaps and disproportionate incarceration), it could possibly happen if a white person ended up lost in the forest and found a never before contacted tribe of people who eventually discriminated against him or her because their religion said that they were chosen and that their complexion and everything about them is divine. Or something like that. Like I said, theoretically.

@Cosmological‌ I get really creeped out when white people have to make up hypothetical situations that have never existed to make their verdict seem credible tbh :expressionless: but it’s nice to know that you understand the wide disparity more than others :)

Racism does actually happen to whites. @Jellybae you’ve never lived in the shoes of a white person so you have no idea whether they never experience racism.

Chill, realtwinkie. Chill.

I’ve been asked before if I have an arranged marriage that was planned since I was a kid -_-
Or why I don’t wear a “blanket” on my head.
Um my family is Catholic, but some people are so ignorant and assume things about people from the Middle East.
Also they think that all the cultures are the same. I had explained to someone that I was not whatever he thought I was but that I was from this other culture and he responded with “What’s the difference? You all talk gibberish.”

Racism is around because of stupid people who don’t know anything.

@yomyomf

I’m especially sorry about the Hiroshima comment. You didn’t deserve that. I’m not even of Japanese origin, but even seeing and reading the stories relating to that day broke my heart. F that back-minded donkey who told you that!

I’m half white and half Asian… It’s pretty interesting hearing some of the stuff people say about me.

@LosingCrayon‌
You too? When I was 6, people used to tell me something was wrong with my eyes like I had an infection. They call me twinkie, hence my username.

Yeah, as the first poster said you need some new friends.

That awkward moment when you’re a dog-eating, whale-poaching, smoking child with a sister in the orphanage

If you aren’t close enough to these people for them to assume you know they are kidding then cut them off. if they are halfway decent people u want to keep around then tell them to cut it out
