Do I believe the school should get involved…If it violates the HS code of conduct YES
Do I believe he should be publicly shamed… YES Being shamed is one possible consequence of bad/jerky behavior…and doesn’t violate one’s first amendment rights. Isn’t there a popular saying among some about “Free speech doesn’t mean free from possible negative consequences?”
Do I believe he should be denied the chance to walk at graduation… YES If it violates the HS code of conduct, not being allowed to walk is another possible negative consequence of his behavior.
Do I believe his future college should be called …NO The only thing we both agree on. Not the college’s domain yet.
Do I believe that this incident falls under the definition of bullying…YES. Once one makes a personalized racially based attack by calling for someone who looks different from a “real murikan”, that’s bullying/harassment under many HS conduct codes I know of.
And what gives you the right to use a commanding tone in a conversation of equals. hmm?
