Hello, this is the first time I’m using College Confidential, so please correct me if this is placed in the wrong forum. I recently applied to my community college radiology program in San Diego. I wasn’t able to make it into this years program, but I was placed on a waitlist for next year. I’m completed a “general education plan” that makes me eligible for transfer to SDSU. My parents are kind of fed up with me having to wait a year to get into the program. It isn’t about money, it’s about me not doing anything for the entire year, so they recommend that I finish an associate’s degree until the start of the program next year. Two associate’s degrees that caught my attention were Biology-Allied Health, and Business Administration. There is also a certification in computer programming. I was also thinking about getting a job in a hospital as a transporter, clerk, or anything that will accept me for experience I can put on my resume. I’ll be combining these options over the course of the year, but I would like your opinion on which major would be applicable in my field as a tech, and what other options I should look into. Am I wasting my time with getting an associate’s degree now, when I’m going to get one after I complete my two year program? What can I do to make myself more competitive in this field? Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
