<p>my son is thinking of requesting Ragans. He'll be a sophomore but his number is in the 30s. However, I'm assuming he won't be able to specify room mates and if he gets in will most likely end up as the odd man out in the four man set up. </p>
<p>Anybody on the board who lived in Ragans as a sophomore? would appreciate any information.</p>
<p>The numbers may be different this year, but I was able to get into Ragans last year with a priority number of 261 (ended up getting a job as an RA, so I turned it down). Two of my friends (one with priority inside the 100’s and another around 300) were able to get into Ragans as roommates, so based on last year, it’s very possible (depending on your son’s friend’s priority number) that your son will get both Ragans and his choice of roommates. </p>
<p>Again, this is only based on last year, and could definitely be different this year. Also, he needs to do this tonight, as it needs to be complete by March 1st to keep his priority.</p>
<p>I lived in Ragans my sophomore year, and I really loved it. The location wasn’t fantastic in relation to the rest of my classes, but it was still a very nice dorm. I would have elected to live there again this year if it weren’t for the price tag…</p>
<p>I applied for Ragans the other day. I talked to one of the assignment guys in housing last week and he said I probably wouldn’t get in Ragans even with my priority # which is lower than 30; I’ll be a 2nd yr student. We’ll see what happens. We can cancel the contract too if want to make other housing arrangements if we notify housing in a few weeks after assignments to dorms are made later in March. Will we be told the names of new roommates when we are notified about assignments so like if we get a real weirdo we can bail out of contract or seek other dorm room?</p>
<p>My priority number was in the 600s or higher as i recall when i requested Ragans back as a freshman going on sophomore. Rest assured, housing decided to not care about my original request as i requested only singles. They first put me in Wildwood with some random roomie. I asked for a reassignment request, then within a week i got into Deviney (my dorm as a freshman) in a single. Then, i asked for yet another reassignment, only 2 weeks had gone by after the original time i was put in wildwood and SHABANG, i got into Ragans.</p>

<p>Tallalassie–my son said the housing guy seemed to think he’d be able to get into Ragans with his number. Maybe there’s less guys that request the dorm??? well, we’ll see. did they suggest what you should put for second choice?</p>
<p>The housing app was kind of awkward completing because it said to rank building preferences in order. The room I would like best was McCollum one person efficiency, but there are only like 10 of those so that is a real long shot, but I didn’t put McCollum dorm as first preference on form because I’d probably end up in a townhouse unit in McCollum. I think my housing app ended up, early riser: 1) Ragans, any room; 2) McCollum, one person efficiency; 3) Wildwood, any room; 4) DeGraff, any room. I’m not going to lose any sleep over this; if I don’t like what I get, I’ll bug them over at housing office to try for a switch. Who knows, I might end up going off campus in an apt. I did ask housing about rate increase for rent and he hinted to expect maybe about 5% increase for next year. Rents are going down everywhere else but colleges!</p>
<p>I wonder if a sophomore has ever managed to get a McCollum efficiency?</p>
<p>I got into Ragans sophomore year with priority number 2000 something (I originally applied to other dorms and got Smith, but once I found that out I sent out a request for a dorm change and within hours I reassigned to Ragans). And there are 40 efficiences in McCollum.</p>
<p>40 single efficiencies in McCollum is ok with me, when I talked to rep at housing a couple of months ago he said there were about 10. Maybe if housing tells me I can’t get in a unit it really means I can!</p>
