Rain....

I really wanted to go to Reed but everyone around me is keep telling me the weather sucks at Reed College, or at OR in general,,,

But I still want to go to Reed,,,itz such a niice school :)

so my question is ,,, is the weather really that bad????

Would you really not go to Reed because of the weather? :P lol

Well, Ive read that it is really bad. Ive heard that it rains alot. But that might be exaggerated. ;)

Im really not sure how many Reed students hang out on CC so I will give you a few links.

I read something about the weather there :D

The average annual rainfall is less than that of Atlanta, Birmingham, Houston, Indianapolis or Seattle.

Here's the data:

<a href="http://www.pova.org/visitors/weather.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.pova.org/visitors/weather.html</a></p>

There is usually a bit of light snow in the winter, but rarely enough to close the roads. Some days in summer can be very hot!

Snow, really? :D

I hate the heat though, thats why Im trying to escape California.

I have lived in portland all of my life. The rain is not that bad, it just makes spring and summer that much better. On a fall or winter day that it doesn't rain and the sun is out, there is no better place to be than Oregon. Although, once it starts raining, it usually doesn't stop for a while. If you absolutely hate the rain Oregon is probably not the best place for you, but to use the weather to base your college decision on is not right. especially if you are concidering Reed.

Heh. I've lived around Seattle all my life, and Portland isn't as bad. (It couldn't be!) Sure, it's gray a lot, and damp sometimes, but that's what keeps the plants so alive and the air so clean, and so when the sun comes out (fairly frequently), it's stunningly beautiful, totally different from somewhere that it's sunny all the time.
