After taking the ACT twice and getting 28 both times, how can I improve on it for the September test one month from now?

Subscores

April
Pre-Algebra/Elem. Algebra 16
Algebra/Coord. Geometry 13
Plane Geometry/Trig. 14

June
Pre-Algebra/Elem. Algebra 17
Algebra/Coord. Geometry 13
Plane Geometry/Trig. 15

I usually breeze through the first 40 questions and then struggle with the remaining 20. Both times I was forced to guess on ones i didn't know towards the end.

I have used the Kaplan book.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you've taken at least precal/trig, correct? (otherwise, you're trig and precal scores would have been lower... just making sure though)

it just takes a little more practice and reading over some of the things your missing again... like algebra and coordinate geometry... that seems to be your weak point... i'd get a math book or something and review over those two sections (or PR or something like that would help too b/c they generally include the math that you need to know for the test)

bump... need a little help

i'm in the same boat as you; I got a 28 overall but i got a 31 on math with subscores of:

Pre-Algebra/Elem. Algebra 17
Algebra/Coord. Geometry 16
Plane Geometry/Trig. 15

I'm just going to go over the math concepts within the PR book.

What more do you want? Peytoncline gave you a suggestion for a book. other than that, what are we to tell you. we don't know exactly what your missing. You have to find that out and fix it. practice the areas where you are not too good at. Obviously, you are not good at algebra/coordinate geometry, so improve those. if you can't figure that out on your own, then you have more problems than just a low math score.
