Ok so here is the situation, my first year of college was rough to say the least. I had a family member in and out of the hospital the first semester, and eventually pass the second semester along with other domestic issues that needed my attention. I am most likely going to finish my first year off with a 2.65 GPA. Now this for me is ridiculous, I am usually a great student and have prided myself on my academics. I had plans to apply to med school, but now it feels as though me dreams are falling apart. So I guess I want to know what my chances are of raising my GPA high enough to attend a decent med school in Texas?
It happens to just about everyone. College has nothing to do with smarts. It’s about priorities. As an adult, you have to allow for some degree of emotional distance so you can focus on your life and priorities. It’s a state of mind we all grow into. There’s still plenty of college left. Don’t let family issues distract you, that’s not healthy. Focus on your studies and get As. Retake a couple of classes in the summer and your GPA will be awesome in no time.
