Hi, I’m a senior and I am taking my act for the final time on September 12th. I desperately need a 29 on it this time. Last time I got a 27 on it (Math-23, Science-25, Reading-31, English-28). I have been preparing a little and I have read the review sections in the prep book but every time I take a practice test in specifically math or science, I keep getting the same score or lower. The college I want to go to super scores it (meaning they take the highest of each section). I really need this 29 and I only have about 2 weeks left. Does anyone have tips on how to improve my score?? Also, do most people improve their score the second time?? Thanks in advance!
Generally, people score better on a second test, especially if they do prep. Take as many practice tests as you can until the September test. 2 a week if you can. You can also do sections everyday, and since math and science are dragging you down you could alternate them everyday. Get the Official ACT book, which has official tests, and do the sections or take the full tests. Also beware the new writing test. Old prompts won’t prepare you well for the new prompts, which focus on any issues, not just school issues, and present 3 viewpoints.
Good luck. I’m also looking to raise my ACT a few points this September!
Okay thank you!! Good luck to you as well
Consider focusing on Math and Science, they are bringing your composite score down.
You may only need 12-14 more right answers in Math, and 5-6 right in Science to more up that composite to a 29!
