i scored a 30 on my first try, on the ACT test administered to all Illinois high school juniors in may. the only real prep i did was the time spent in class studying workbooks a week before the test. do you think it's possible for me to raise my score to at least a 34 by the latest test date for Fall 2006 college admissions? i absolutely hate taking standardized tests that i didn't even bother taking the SAT subject tests (some schools waive the requirement in place of an ACT score). also, a 30 is a good enough score for many schools on my list, but i want to increase my chances at my reach schools like UChicago. thanks.

Raise it to a 34 by Fall 2006?

Of course....Just practice some more

It might actually a bit harder than it seems, due to the fact of the harsh curve. A difference between a 30-34 is just a few questions and if ACT happens to pull out a tough section you could be back down to your original score (or even lower!)

yes, you can

Yeah, the curve is harsh, but I think it's possible with some practice.

You have to put your nose to the grindstone.

Well, if the science section is as bad as it was in April, say goodbye to that 34. :(
