Hey everybody.
I'm taking the February 9th ACT and I'm starting to really zone in on my prep. I've always done well on the math and science sections (35-36), and decent on the writing section. It's the reading section that really gets me.
I've been taking some school issued practice tests and some of my own, and for both I've received scores in the 32-34 range. To get into my top colleges though, I'd really like to get a 35 or 36.
Do you have any suggestions on how I could achieve these last couple of points?
Thanks in advance!

same! bump bump bump

From everything I have read on the ACT, if you are getting scores in the 32-34 range, you already know everything you need to know to get a 35-36. Everything just really has to go your way on test day – a little luck to get those 2 extra points. The margins are so small once you get to the 34 range that one little distraction can cost you those points. The only way to do that is to keep prepping the way you have been and try the test again. Try to analyze where your mistakes are in the Reading section. Is it time? Certain types of questions? This could help you figure out where you need to focus as you study and practice.
I have also heard that the ACT for Brainiacs book is really good for those last few points, but it is not published any more and costs a lot used on Amazon. I have not seen the book personally.

i don’t know about ACT. but for SAT, there isn’t much difference between 2300+ and 2400. my son got 2340 on his only attempt. Perhaps he could raise it with luck and hard work, but it is not worth spending any more time working on improving the score. There is a price to pay for perfection.
