Raising transfer GPA.

Hello everyone and thank you for reading my post. Here's my situation. I'm a transfer student in my first semester at a CSU after having attended two seperate community colleges. I didn't do very well at the first school. I did much better at the second school.

I have noticed that my transfer GPA at my new institution (CSU) is only 3.4 whereas I had a 3.9 GPA at the last community college I attended. While going over what credits were transfered in I see that the school counted pretty much all the classes I did poorly in at the first school, but none of the equivalents to them that I did well in at the second school.

For example, a composition course in which I got an C at CCSF is listed, but the equivalent composition course that I got an A in at CSM is not. The same is true for a social science and mathematics course. And I mean exact equivalents. In addition, I took two different courses in the same IGETC subject area, in one I earned a C and in another I got an A, but the C grade is what shows up. I'm in the process of doing academic renewal at the first school because I've made up almost every class I had done poorly in, but I'm wondering if after that process, would the submission of a new transcript from the first school alter my transfer GPA? And also, I'm concurrently enrolled in the CCC and CSU system, if I were to continue taking classes at for credit at community college, would that impact my GPA at my CSU?

Thanks for any help.

I would also like to add that I’m not trying to be petty and boost my ego by raising my gpa, but that i’m an accounting major and gpa is big to prospective employers.

You should discuss this with your current school admission office to see if there is anything they can do.
