ram on my laptop

i have 3.2GHz
I LOVE VAIO :)

But windows sucks and always goes slower than macs running at the same speed anyways

That has little to do with the OS. That has to do with hardware.

BestMiler,

Clock speed is not a true sign of processor capability. Look at how well many of the Athlon's perform with much slower clock speeds. Also look at the new Core Duos, with their significantly slower clocks, performing much better than their Pentium 4 counterparts. In fact, two Pentium 4s with the same exact clock speed can have significantly different marginal performance (Barton vs. Prescott).

whoa uclari, you know a lot, so ill just go with you
and how is it in japan....my uncle just came from a year trip about two months ago....he also had to work in japan because of american comanises

Japan is cold and rainy. And devoid of good sandwiches.

theripcurl1969: Your computer uses PC2100 notebook ram. Your reciept or the packaging should reflect that.

Your 30 g hard drive is most likely a 4200RPM unit. Your best bet is to look for a 40/60 g unit running at 5400RPM.

If you're looking for more speed, hard drives have small memory caches that temporarily store data while the drive is writing data. Typically, hard drives have 2,8 or 16 megabits of memory. Look for 8 mbits.

You should see a good bump in your system's apparent speed with a faster hard drive.

1.6 Ghz is not that slow, especially if it's a pentium M.

Pentium M 1.6 Ghz=Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz=an old Athlon 2200

For example, my Overclocked Opteron (from 1.8ghz) is now faster than a Dual 3.2Ghz Xeon.

From what I read you don't seem to be a heavy computer user. If you play games, do processor intensive tasks (encryption, encoding/decoding, etc.), use Photoshop, or do video editing than you need to ditch computer and get a 2.4+ GHz laptom with a 5400RPM hard drive and atleast 1GB of ram (which you have now).
