ramapo versus rutgers (livingston college)

Hey guys
I appreciate any recommendations

I got an 1170 sat, 650 verbal, 520 math
I have about an 85% gpa

I was not admitted to rutgers college, but did get in to the livingston college.
My other option for college is Ramapo.

I have visited both and I liked ramapo better, but most people are telling me to go to rutgers because it has a better reputation.
I also like the idea that at rutgers there is probably more to do, more frat gatherings, and sports etc.

I got an overall better feel for ramapo though.

I plan to major in labor studies or political studies.

Thanks for your time

I would go with what feels comfortable to you. You can always transfer after you get some of your core classes done at Ramapo, if you change your mind. I know someone that did not get into Rutgers (don't know if she got into the other colleges there). She went for one year to a small private college. She was unhappy, and then transferred to Ramapo. She needed to first raise her gpa b/c it was not that high at the private college. She accomplished this at Ramapo, and then transferred into Rutgers. It took until her junior year to make it in, and she will graduate only one semester late (after 3 schools in 3 years). That extra semester will also allow her to get in some valuable research experience.

You should probably try to figure out what changes are going to be made with the Rutgers reorganization and the timing of those changes. How long will there even be a separate Livingston college? I don't know, but I think the plan is to have only one liberal arts college with uniform admissions standards.

yeah.

it seems as if my entering class will be 'grandfathered' in to the division of colleges =[

I decided on going to rutgers mainly just due to reputation.

I put in my deposit at least =</p>

I am glad you posted your decision. Lots of luck!
