lol someone wanna call that number up?

dude...if any adcoms ever read my chance thread..they would identify me easily...think about this...i said my SAT scores....all my ECs...my exact AMC and AIMe scores which are unlikely the same as other people.....my school being one of the "little ivy 7s"...it's way too easy if they actually want to find out

Not necessarily... The reason you think this is because you know you posted here on college confidential. As an outsider with no knowledge that you ever use this site, then chances are repeated trial and no-sucess would cause any logical person to stop searching for random SAT scores and other test scores. And let's say they do find it. So what? It would be too unprofessional to make assumptions based on some online forum for decisions in which you can't even identify who's posting scores. It could be your friend pretending to be you. It could be your mother pretending to be you so she can find out your chances. The variables abound.

First of all, I don't see how Cornell adcoms could possibly see your facebook profile if you are applying to Cornell and therefore are a high school student who doesn't even have a Cornell facebook...unless they can somehow get into your high school network (doubt it).

Second of all, I doubt anyone from Cornell who is involved in decisions really goes on this site on a regular basis, but even so, they won't be able to easily identify you.

Most importantly, realize that you are not that important. Cornell takes in tens of thousands of applications per year. bearcats is a good example:

Cornell adcoms really would have no reason to go on chance threads (they have better things to do with their time) and even so, wouldn't take said chance thread and trying to sift through tens of thousands of apps to find a match. And no, they won't memorize all the information you put down just so later they would happen to run into your profile and say "hey I remember seeing this exact SAT score and AMC score."

The only way I could see what you post on CC affect your decisions in any way is if you write something that clearly shows that you are lying on your app, people from your school or whatnot identify you, and they report you to the colleges you apply to. I think I saw this once on the Harvard boards. So the solution is simple: don't lie on apps.

I know it's a tough time right now and many of you are nervous, but don't let the paranoia take over. Take a breather and go out. Enjoy life for a while.

bearcats-

seriously. as a boarding school student not far from hotchkiss, i knew when i first saw your post, and im assuming the adcoms would know

you go to hotchkiss.

bearcats? = hotchkiss. everytime im at hotchkiss i see that bearcat statue outside the athletic center. that is the one thing that would START to give you away. depending on how many students apply to cornell, it would be easy for them to figure out.

but hey, i doubt they are actually going to look. they have better things to do (one would hope) so as vicissitudes says, take a breather. i think we are all spazzing a little too much.

As many posters have mentioned the articles are sketchy on their own, but I went ahead and looked up the domain owners information and it confirms all suspicions. Don't hold faith in any information provided by ivyleak.com, it is a waste of time and the internet.

No, actually you are wrong. The author can be located at an Ivy League school, but he is using hosting from Network Solutions, which is a co-located hosting provider. Websites are never hosted at their real locations. The site you are on right now is hosted at a dedicated provider, one of many in the US. Websites hosted on private computers are never used for anything important. Especially on university connections, where upload is capped and port 80 is usually blocked for webhosting.

I'm not defending the guy, but keep in mind that the evidence you represent does not prove anything. In fact, it only proves that the guy is serious enough to use a real hosting provider that actually costs some real money.

awesome. either way it really doesnt make a difference as long as you dont post

MY NAME IS .... ..... FROM ......

I HATE CORNELL AND THE ADCOMS SUCK AND SHOULD DIE

if you post that and see that...idk how they would feel.

Actually, you could post your name, location, social security number, date of birth, picture, etc.

They still cannot prove it is YOU.

I can go through your garbage and frame you on this site right now if college adcoms are dumb enough to think people on this site are who they say they are. :)
