student activities center

The VOH exam/TA incidence is completely ridiculous- the TA is 100% out of line (I'm guessing 1st year graduate student and first time TAing). VOH is, like everyone has said, public access. Baugh during office hours when I had him encouraged students to go to past quarters on VOH to see the types of questions he asks. The TAs when I took him put up old exam problems during discussion section for us to work through, which he got off of VOH. Our midterm reviews that were hosted by the TAs were based off his old exams, which they told us to get from past VOH's. For most of Baugh's old exams, he only posts the answers, so you don't really know the questions. The Covel tutoring services, or at least the tutor at the time I took 20B there, gave you the questions to the exams.

You need to print out that email and confront Baugh about that specific TA.

lol i remmeber him saying he's the ta in charge of all teh other tas. you have benny right?

that TA is an a**hole. however, if i were you, stop emailing that TA for help. Go DIRECTLY to the professor and ask him the questions you have. If he doesn't email you, go to office hours. If you can still not contact him, the go to him after lecture. The last thing you want is to have spend time explaining yourself (even though you are 100% right) to the dean and get cleared from this mess.

you have benny right?

Yeah. I just don't like how he takes authority when he doesn't know a lot of things. He claims to know the Chemistry system well, bragging he knows all the Chemistry professors but he doesn't understand VOH. He emailed all the other TAs, probably forwarding my name with it, saying not to answer old midterm questions. Lame ..

Exactly!

sorry for asking a dumb question, but what's VOH?

virtual office hours, its the chem class websites

the 20l website has been funky too

i have to refresh like 8x to get the pdf to show up

Be nice to Access monitors

[/quote]

ha, my RA gave me this advice: try to avoid coming back to high rise dorms if you're really drunk since the access monitors are required to report you

"Previous Quarters' VOH Webpages" is listed under "Useful Links" on VOH. it shows that the chem department encourages students to take advantage of old VOH as a resource. and it's not your fault if baugh doesn't know how his VOH works.

its not so much baugh as benny i think

speaking of drunk people, there were so many at bcaf last night!! like wth? i could smell them while they're talking from the other side

i can smell alcohol in the summit elevators late at night on weekends. or at least friday/saturday night. damn alcoholics.

well. at least its not bo :)

for people who dont scooter/bike/board:

when you hear the sounds of wheels approaching you from behind, or even in front of you, please do not make any sudden movements (attempting to move out of the way, stopping, or just any unpredictable motion). the reason being is that you might impede the selected path of which the scooterer/biker/boarder is traveling upon.

can i get a little more info on sac? what kind of test does it have? is it online or an office?

its probably a dumb question sorry

go into the sac and submit a previous exam you took...and you can look at their files of exams.

walking down form janiss steps, the sac is the building on your left.

This is the most retarded email I received ever. Check out what my TA wrote back about the VOH thing:

Hi Everyone,

Prof. Baugh would like to clarify that you cannot use your CELL PHONE as a calculator. In addition, any one who has an unathorized copy of his previous midterms or exams is considered cheating. For more information about cheating policy, you can refer to the pdf file I sent you last Friday.

PS: All his previous midterms/finals have been removed from VOH.

I guess the Covel tutor would encourage us to "cheat" huh for providing us with practice problems from previous midterms. -_- Lame.

Here's some support for my position:
